Rethinking sustainable fashion

Introduction

The fashion industry is one of the most polluting industries worldwide. As much so that when everyone would wear their clothing twice as long, greenhouse emissions would be 44% lower (Magnin & Hedrich, 2019). How can we tackle this issue in a way which will appeal to a broad audience? In my final bachelor project SMIT I developed a service which allows you to adapt your garment for each fashion season, without needing to buy new clothing.

Skill Development

If everyone were to wear their clothes twice as long as we would now, greenhouse emissions would be 44% lower(Magnin & Hedrich, 2019). But we don’t want to give up wearing the latest trends, which results in us buying lots of fast fashion.

SMIT Offers the solution. You can easily make your own clothing by glueing the lines together on the garments and make al kinds of items out of one. You can do this yourself, or get it done at the store in the same way you would get a haircut and get it custom fit. And when you’re done with the garment you simply wash it in baking soda and all glue will dissolve.

This way you’ll always look fashionable, have clothing fit you perfectly, and still care about the planet by making your footprint smaller.
